Aircraft Maintenance Technician, refers to an individual who holds a Mechanic certificate issued by the Federal Aviation Administration; the rules for certification, and for certificate-holders, are detailed in Subpart D of Part 65 of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR's), which are part of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations. Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMT's) inspect and perform or supervise maintenance, preventive maintenance, and alteration of aircraft and aircraft systems. In the U.S., Aircraft Maintenance Technicians usually refer to themselves as A&P's, for Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics.
Aviation Education International is a Part 147 AMT approved school. The course is 1980 hour in length. Upon completion of the course you are eligible to test.
Part 147 -- Aviation Maintenance Technician
The required tests for certification include, first, a set of knowledge tests; these are followed by a practical test, which includes an oral examination component, and which is administered by a Designated Mechanic Examiner (DME).
The general requirements for eligibility for admission to our program include the following:
·Be 18 or older;
·Be able to read, speak, and understand English;
·High School Graduate or GED
For your convenience Aviation Education International has an on site knowledge testing center (Laser Grade) and a DME availabe for testing seven (7) days a week.
