Our FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic fast track program is for individuals who meet the aviation experience requirement and have received their sign-off or can get their sign-off from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The sign-off is on FAA Form 8610-2. This form authorizes you to be administered the computer written exams and the oral and practical Airframe & Powerplant tests. Without this form no testing is authorized.
FAR 65.71 Eligibility Requirements for Airframe and Powerplant
There are two ways to meet the experience requirement established by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to receive your testing authorization (FAA Form 8610-2).
With Aviation Experience - Take your DD-214 form (military personnel) or documentary evidence (letter from your company official on company letterhead with his title or A&P Mechanic that can verify maintenance experience, and be sure to include your A&P number) to the nearest FAA office. If possible, get a letter from your airworthiness authority with seal approving you for testing of A&P certificate. Documentation must identify to and from dates, identify aircraft and/or engines, and specifically what you did on this equipment. You must have a minimum of 18 months practical experience on Airframe or Powerplant appropriate to the rating sought or at least 30 months of practical experience concurrently performing the duties appropriate to both Airframe and Powerplant to be signed off for both.
